How long does it take to create a video?
As a guide, a 2-minute Whiteboard video takes us 4-5 weeks to complete from start to finish, and a 2-minute 2D Explainer video takes 4-6 weeks, though this also depends on how long you take to provide us with feedback on the work in progress.
Can I have famous pop songs as a soundtrack?
Not unless you would like to spend thousands in royalty fees, but there’s no need to worry! We have access to thousands of royalty-free music tracks from which you can choose your favourite and we can help you find the perfect music for your new video. We will even buy the licence for your chosen track as part of your package, so that you have no problems using it legally.
Can I or our employees appear as characters in the video?
Of course! We can create a video exactly how you’d like it to be. We would require photos to get a good likeness of you, and will send you sample sketches to ensure that you are happy with the design of your character.
How long should my video last?
The ideal length of your video depends on what your viewer needs to know and understand about your business before they will be willing to take the next step (your call to action). If you have an unconventional business, you might need to spend some time teaching the viewer how the business works, else you might just need to explain how you are better than your competitors. A typical voiceover artist average about 155 words a minute. This will give you an idea of how much script you get for your rate per minute of video. If you have a specific budget, we will let you know how long we can make your video within that budget.
How many pictures will I have?
Generally, we recommend no more than eight different scenes per minute. Too many more and the video will move too fast to be of any value.
If I want to change part of the creative material later in the process, can I?
Yes, we do include unlimited corrections in our service, so if the images and voice track aren’t what you expected when you approved the script and storyboard, we’ll keep correcting it until you’re happy. We would only charge if you decided to rewrite the script or certain scenes once we had already created the images and/or voice track. Therefore, it’s important that you are 100% happy with the script and storbyoard when you approve them.
Can I speak regularly to my Cartoon Media contact over the phone?
Yes, your Project Manager can be contacted by phone or email during the project. We find that email communication is preferable so that we have a written record of all communication.
What are ‘animation effects’?
This is where the images actually move, like in a proper cartoon. It’s also known as ‘flash animation’. For our 2D Explainer videos, there isn’t a hand to draw the figures. The characters and objects have full movement rather than a hand drawing still images. We can also apply movement effects to a whiteboard video, enabling objects to move after they have been drawn.
Do you give a discount if more than one video is required?
Yes, we do give multi-buy discounts. The size of the discount is dependent on the total number of minutes being ordered. You can see our bulk order discounts at http://www.cartoonmedia.com/bulk-video-voucher-prices/
Do you give discounts if we supply our own script and/or voiceover?
Yes, we do offer discounts if the script is already written to your satisfaction. However, most of our clients who provide scripts would like us to review them and make improvements, so we still charge for this service. We offer a discount if you supply your own voiceover, but please ensure that it is a high-quality recording, using professional equipment in a room that doesn’t echo, or else it could reduce the effectiveness of the video.
Does colour or music make any difference?
This is mainly a personal preference. The use of colour attracts the eye, and increase the chances of someone clicking the link to your video. Music can make the video feel more professional, but we don’t usually decide whether or not to add a music track until the voiceover has been recorded. Sometimes you may decide that it isn’t beneficial to add backing music, especially if your video is for training purposes.
Can you do a video in the style of someone else’s video?
Yes, our cartoonists are flexible in their styles and we can arrange to closely emulate the style you are looking for. Just send us links to videos that you already like and we’ll be happy to help.
